Calla Chapnik is a theater performer and creative drawn to musicals with darker and more complex themes. Aiming to ‘comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable’ creating with deep love, connection and thoughtful analysis.
She is an emerging artist from Toronto, Canada and currently living her dream in New York City!
Her favorite theatre credits include a Player in 'Pippin', Liesl in ‘The Sound of Music’, Iris in ‘Fame’, Performer and Dance Captain in ‘Marry Me A Little’, and Heather in ‘Going Under.’
As a contemporary dancer she is a member of 'PRINTS' Dance Company, as well as a dancer for choreographer Laura Ardner. She has performed at a variety of venues throughout New York City, including the Martha Graham Studio Theater, Chain Theater, 28th St. Theater, and in D.I.G, among many others.
Calla has performed in cabarets at iconic venues like 'Don’t Tell Mama', and appeared as a vocal soloist and featured dancer in Building A Bridge Cabaret alongside Broadway performers. She is a graduate of one of the premiere Musical Theatre colleges in Canada, as well as training programs at both Broadway Dance Center and Steps On Broadway.
Calla loves being a part of original work, such as the work she did on and in 'Under the Fig Tree', and 'Manifest: Collective Creation.' As well as being in one of the first casts of Canadian musical, 'Going Under.'
When not performing Calla can be found reading and writing. She is an avid reader, with the strong belief that in order to tell stories it is vital to listen! She is the recipient of the 'Ken Weston Theater Arts Prize' for her work on the script of the musical, 'Under the Fig Tree.'
